Freshwater Fishing Recreational Licenses - Non-Resident

All recreational licenses expire August 31 annually.

It is illegal in Alabama for a non-resident with a valid driver's license to possess an Alabama driver's license or non-driver's ID card.

Non-residents age 16 years of age and over are required to have appropriate recreational licenses. 

All license types and cost are set by legislation.  There is no exemption for non-residents over 65 or discounted license for non-resident physically disabled or non-resident disabled veterans.  

Most recreational licenses below can be purchased online, at your local Probate Office or License Commissioner, license agents, WFF District Offices or Montgomery Office and by calling 1-888-848-6887.

FRESHWATER FISHING

Note:  Due to reciprocal agreements, special fishing license fees may apply to residents of Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi & Tennessee.

FRESHWATER FISHING FAMILY 3-DAY TRIP – add to 4 members of immediate family on the same license.  Immediate family is defined as license holder’s parents, spouse, children, and grandchildren. - $37.00

NON-RESIDENT COLLEGE STUDENT (17-23) - allow certain non-resident students to qualify for annual resident recreational hunting and fishing licenses. Must be enrolled in an approved AL Higher Education Institute - $17.00

FRESHWATER PUBLIC FISHING LAKES LICENSE - Valid only in the State-owned county Public Fishing Lakes. (Not valid in the major rivers and lakes.)

SPEARFISHING – freshwater or saltwater fishing licenses also required.

WIREBASKET  - Required of all ages.  Not available in all counties.  Call your local Probate Office. - Prices Vary

DISABLED FRESHWATER FISHING - available at the Montgomery Office

Disabled Freshwater Fishing 3-Day Event License - for sanctioned events hosting disabled applicants to fish for 3 days.  Event license permits up to 20 disabled participants (and 20 assistants) on one event license.   - $100.00
